Since 1945, every 2 September, Vietnam celebrates its independence day from France. The day Ho Chi Minh declared the independence of the country but also proclaimed the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). Festivities and a parade in Hanoi are on the agenda, in addition to fireworks in the capital, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.
For this significant event, you will see Vietnamese flags and posters of Ho Chi Minh displayed everywhere on the streets.
In Hanoi, a big parade will take place in Ba Dinh Square, just in front of the HCM mausoleum. A symbolic place where he made his speech for the declaration of independence. Thousands of people including civilians and soldiers will march. The President and the crowd proudly waving the Vietnamese flag will assist the parade.
If you find yourself in Hanoi, watch the parade and celebrate this special day with the Vietnamese. Also, don’t miss out to visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex to discover how “Uncle Ho” had a great impact on the country.
