Best Places to Visit in Vietnam In March

Even if Vietnam is an Asian country and movies usually present it as steaming-hot, it is not always true. It is a long country, divided into 3 parts (North, Centre, South) and with fluid weather.

To help you make the right decision on when and where to go, we have compiled how Vietnam seasons and weather change from North to South in different months. We have already presented Vietnam in August – February to you, and now it is time for March.

It is also good to decide fast – March is the peak season in Vietnam, with tourists flowing in. Just the total international arrivals in 9 months of 2019 reached 12,870,506 arrivals, increasing 10.8% over the same period last year! We advise booking multiple months in advance to secure the best spot and price. Need help with that? Contact a local certified English-speaking travel agency!

But first things first: here is some basic info about North, Centre, and South in March.

Landing in Danang? Great, you can visit it too and take just a 20 min car ride and arrive at the Venice of the East, Hoi An. Fall in love with friendly people, pretty women in Ao Dai dresses, fishermen and ladies operating boats on canals and the old town, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site. In March, there is little to no rain, and temperatures of 28–33 degrees (82 – 91 °F.)

Visiting Rach Gia in the Mekong Delta? Hon Son Island (meaning Mountain Island), famous for garlic, is easy to visit – just 1 hour by boat. The closest airport to Sa Ky quay (which has boats to Ly Son) is Chu Lai airport. November to April is perfect to visit because the weather is dry and the sea calm. The island is also small and calm (there was no electricity till 2014!), not much to do than to eat fish, bún quậy, sunbathe or explore the jungle… so rent a bike and explore it all before some big hotel resort arrives and with it, hordes of people! In March, you can expect 28°C (82.4 °F)

Our beach tip: Bai Bang Beach

In the are with near-the-south coastal cities, such as famous Nha Trang or Mui Ne, you can experience warm weather all year round – temperatures vary from 21°C-32°C / 70°F-90°F.) But have you heard about less known Phan Thiet or Quy Nhon? Both of them are nice, calm, coastal cities, popular among local tourists and fish and seafood lovers. So, how about Quy Nhon? We recommend for you to try snails, cooked in shells – just look for a sign saying “ốc”. And the weather? March marks the start of the dry season and the air temperature in March is approx. 28°C (82°F) during the day.

Our beach tip: There’s a long, wide municipal beach, but we recommend slightly tucked-away but very scenic Ky Co Beach. Tired of beach life? Go explore Cham ruins – the area where Quy Nhon is was once mighty capital of an ancient kingdom of Champa, called Vijaya.
