The immense, incredible, and UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized Halong Bay is home to approximately two thousand islands and islets resting in emerald green water interrupted with towering limestone pillars. Halong Bay is a combination of the Sino-Vietnamese words: “Ha” meaning “descending” and “Long” meaning “dragon” which sprouted from the Halong Bay legend of the dragon and her children who protected Vietnam from enemies by spewing fire and launching emeralds.
