Best Places to Visit in Vietnam In November

Spooktober ended, how about going somewhere in November? How about somewhere in Vietnam? If you find yourself here on November 20, you might witness the Vietnamese Teacher’s Day (Ngày Nhà giáo Việt Nam). Students prepare poems, snacks, flowers and art for the parties held at their schools or visit teachers at their homes to offer flowers and small gifts, so you might meet them all dressed-up nicely holding flowers while you discover some of the places below.

Why did we pick them? Well, the temperature in these places goes down after a hot summer and there is less rain. Remember, there is not a bad time to visit our beautiful country, these are just our top 5 picks. In general:

Northern Region (Sapa, Cat Ba Island) – Less rain and temperature comes back to warmer but not summer-crazy hot and sweaty weather aka 20°-24°C (68°-75°F)

Central Region – The Biggest chance of getting wet. This region is the most affected by the monsoons during the hot & wet season. Temperatures range from 20°C-25°C (68°F-77°F). Consider this while booking your dates. With climate change, you never know. You might get lucky but better safe (and dry) than sorry, right? Must be definitely on your list! Why? Because of the beauty of nature in all 4 seasons, decline in the inflow of local travellers which makes it emptier & calm with its friendly and authentic H’Mong people in traditional costumes in the Cat Cat Village, typical markets with local foods and crafts (we recommend Love Market on Saturdays or Bac Ha on Sundays) and hiking opportunities. Try some homemade wine from corn or rice cake when you rest afterwards.

How is the weather in Sapa in November? Great! March-May and September-November are the two recommended periods to visit Sapa. Why? Even if the harvesting season ends in September (those are the majority of lovely rice paddies pictures you might have seen), November still has sunny days and cool nights and the rainfall weakens, letting the weather become drier and milder before it gets colder in December. Bring warm clothes and good trekking shoes, though. Temperatures range from 15 to 22°C in the day (59 to 71°F) to a minimum of 10°C (10°F) in the night.

Apart from spring (from March to May) the autumn period (from September to November), is a great time to visit, as the sun is not that strong and there are fewer people. Whether you visit Can Tho, My Tho, Vinh Long, Chau Doc, Ben Tre or other famous places, we guarantee you will love it! Mui Ne

Binh Thuan province hides a fishing village, now a tourist spot, where you can kite-surf, windsurf and slide on sandy-red and white dunes. No, we are not describing Morocco, this place is in Vietnam. It is called Mui Ne and it is less crowded than Nha Trang. And if you visit Vietnam in November and Mui Ne – expect temperatures from 26 to 29°C (78.8 – 84°F)

By the way, did you know that Mui Ne is one of the best places to see the solar eclipse? On average, there are about 240 solar eclipses each century. Phu Quoc

All the rain stops in October so woop woop, head for a beach on the biggest island of Vietnam. We recommend the night market, seafood, swimming villages, diving, swimming, snorkelling, or kayaking. Ready for your trip to Vietnam in November? Keep in mind these simple tips to relish the unpredictable but gorgeous autumn in Vietnam!

For fear of somewhat unexpected downpours, don’t forget to bring umbrellas or raincoats with you as you go outside.

Always put on sunscreen, even if it’s not sunny or you risk a sunburn. If you are in hilly areas, use a mosquito repellent.

In order to stay dry during your journey, make sure you check the weather forecast for possible rainfalls and storms before heading outside and are unprepared.
